Jet2 Suspends all flights and holidays

Jet2 has once again suspended all flights and holidays until at least 23rd June.

Jet2’s chief executive says the travel company will suspend flights and holidays until at least 23 June due to uncertainty over the government’s travel proposals.

Not good news, and how much longer can this go on for. ???

All those with flights booked for June, have you been notified already? Jet2 seem to be one of the leading companies in letting customers know and issuing refunds.

Our problem in the UK is that the government – and I am hoping they will change this – say those travelling to green areas (Madeira at present) will need to do a PCR test before leaving and another while on holiday for re -entry to the UK. That will cost between £400 and £600 extra for a couple on top of the week’s cost. Plus many of us travel on Monday as that is the timeshare swap over day and many private test centres only operate Monday – Friday. Plus really don’t want to spend one of my holiday days trying to get a test in Madeira. Could just be too difficult and expensive to go abroad, even when fully vaccinated.

    1. U can do a test here for 20 euro … got friends going back to Germany this is enough for them to travel….if they can do tests in Portugal for 30 euro the Brits can do the same

      1. It depends on which test will be accepted by the country you are flying into. I think the UK will only accept PCR, which I think you will find is more than 20/30 Euros.

  2. We have flights booked from Stansted on 14th June and haven’t been informed of any cancellation. The booking is still showing as valid on the Jet2 website so I wonder whether your information is correct?

    1. Have just checked the Jet2 website again. Yes, they have blocked new bookings for 14th June etc but our 14th June existing booking is still showing as valid. Perhaps that will be removed by Jet2 during today with a refund etc offer. An email or Txt from them would also be nice!

      1. Well give them a chance. They’ve only just announced it so that’s a fairly big database of customers to go through!

Just yet another proof that whatever you do in Madeira right now regarding curfew time will have no effect whatsoever in the number of tourists arriving because most tourists are banned or severely restricted from flying by their own countries and governments. So all the effort needs to be focused in keeping infection rates low.

  5. Sadly, it is true, Jet2 put this message out on Twitter @ 9.04 this a.m. followed by the BALPA pilots organisation commenting a few minutes later.

  8. Praise for Jet2. I have had 2 holidays and 2 flights cancelled with them. Received full refunds with 10 days. On the other hand had to request refund from easyjet.

  12. To be able to travel on holiday during a global pandemic is a privilege not a right, and if because of that fact, it costs a traveller more then so be it. I really don’t understand people moaning about getting tests and the costs associated with that. These are safety measures put in place to protect us all for goodness sake, without them we’ll all be back to square one in no time, with even more tragedy.
