Madeira and Porto Santo could soon have another new technology, this time on the coast line.
The government is looking to invest in New Bladeless Wind Turbines which could help produce even more power than the ones already in use on Paul da Serra.
The turbines will be placed out at sea, and because they are bladeless they bring no harm to the many sea birds we have in the Region, as an estimated 500,000 birds die each year from the bladed turbines across the world.
It will also be another step forward for green energy, and Porto Santo could be a favourite option for the start of the investment. Porto Santo is already using electric vehicles, vehicle-to-grid charging and recycled batteries, Renault and a Madeira utility are creating a smart island experiment in Porto Santo, since 2018.
