It’s not often I blog about something unrelated to Madeira.

This video of the Azores I found very interesting and learnt a lot in such I short video. Definitely a place I want to visit in the near future.

  1. Nine amazing islands unspoilt by mass-tourism. We have been to five of the nine and you either fly or take a ferry between the islands. The archipelago is spread on 300 miles(500km) hence the need to fly.

    We used Sunvil for our most recent visits. They organised flights, hotels and ferries eta.

  2. Hi Tobi, similar to Maurice but we went with Saga (over 50s?). We loved it, it really is like going back in time. The locals were lovely, and made us so welcome, inviting us into places so they could explain their customs and celebrations. The islands are so different from each other. The thermal areas are amazing, Pico is stunning, the food fresh and tasty. Mike enjoyed the tea plantation. Highly recommended!!!

    1. We’ve still got some of the loose leaf tea in the cupboard. The dairy produce on the islands is second to none. The cheese for São Jorge is fabulous. The wine from Pico is excellent too. The grapes are grown at ground level rather than above head height to protect them from the winds.

  3. Azores are nice, little bit like Madeira 30 years ago, flatter and more colourful though. Only minus I found was that there were places where people abandoned unwanted cats,that was so sad.

  4. There is a Tea Plantation in Cornwall at Tregothan, maybe not on the same scale as in the video so i guess there are two in Europe?
