Temperature reached 22ºC in Bica da Cana

With the sun announced to spread across the entire region, this sunny Good Friday is marked by the high air temperature recorded this afternoon in the Paul da Serra area. The local meteorological station, located in Bica da Cana (1560 meters altitude) recorded a maximum temperature of 22.0ºC (until 18:00). The extreme record occurred at 15:00 (shortly after solar noon). Hot and dry weather (humidity below 30%) at altitude was one of the characteristics of today in some areas of high altitudes.

In the Areeiro area, despite the low humidity also recorded, it was where the lowest value of the maximum temperature of the entire network of IPMA meteorological stations in the Region was recorded, as it did not exceed the still mild 16.6ºC in the highest season, that of Areeiro Peak.

The very significant extreme value recorded at Bica da Cana was only 2 tenths from equaling the absolute maximum temperature recorded today in Madeira: 22.2ºC in Funchal/Observatory.
