According to the Funchal City Council, there were nine transports to the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital, including falls, alcohol poisoning and sudden illnesses. “A very small number compared to the influx of people at the event, even in greater numbers than in the previous year”, says the municipality.
The CMF also informed that to monitor all possible events during Market Night, an Event Coordination Post was in operation, between 5:30 pm and 4 am, physically installed in the PSP Regional Command.
“The Mayor of Funchal, Pedro Calado, accompanied by the councilor for Civil Protection, Bruno Pereira and also by the Operational Commander of Madeira, visited this coordination post and found out about all the means that were used in terms of security and protection civil, it should be noted that, in terms of security and assistance, a total of around 150 operators were involved, including police, firefighters and the Red Cross”, he explained.
