ARAE warns of danger from IKEA charger

The Regional Authority for Economic Activities (ARAE) left a warning on its page reporting the danger of using the ‘Askstorm 40w’ USB charger with reference 50461193 from the IKEA brand, which has been sold since 2020.

As he explains, 17 incidents have been reported globally (none in Portugal), in which customers have reported
to IKEA that the power cord or item may be damaged after being wrapped around the charger or bent back and forth, after a period of longer use. Damaged cable can cause thermal burns and electric shock.

The company therefore asks all customers who have purchased the product to “stop using it and contact IKEA for a full refund”.
