The Police are investigating a robbery at gunpoint committed by a masked individual, this Friday morning, at a bank branch in the city center of Câmara de Lobos, from where a fortune in cash was stolen.
According to DIÁRIO, the man, with his face covered by a mask, burst into the Caixa Geral de Depósitos branch, on Rua Padre Eduardo Clemente Nunes Pereira, wielding a firearm with which he threatened the employees, forcing them to hand over a large amount in European Central Bank notes.
From what DIÁRIO found, the robber tied up the employees and customers who were at the bank branch at the time and stole something like 240 thousand euros in cash, fleeing to an unknown location.
Searches are currently underway to locate the suspect who is being identified by the Police based on images from the internal video surveillance circuit.
