Planes ‘circling’, canceled and diverged at Madeira Airport

Weather conditions are complicating landings at Madeira International Airport – Cristiano Ronaldo. So far, six planes have diverted.

According to information from the website ‘Flightradar’, five aircraft diverged this morning to Porto Santo (plane from TAP, coming from Lisbon; Swiftwair, from Lisbon; Transavia, which came from Nantes; Luxair, from Luxembourg and Eurowings, that departed from Dusseldorf) and one that returned to Humberto Delgado airport, in Lisbon (TP1687).

In the latter case, the TAP plane, which was supposed to fly back to Lisbon at 11 am, ended up being cancelled.

At the moment there are three planes arriving in Madeira and waiting for an ‘open’ to be able to land.

This situation is causing long queues at the airport.

Some other flights have already cancelled for later in the day.

A few flights have also managed to land, so it’s not all bad news for some.
