Eagle lost since yesterday in Santa Cruz

A captive eagle belonging to the company T-Falcon Madeira was lost yesterday in the Aquaparque area, in Santa Cruz.

To DIÁRIO, Tiago Cardoso, from T-Falcon, argues that “animals should be in nature”, however those born in captivity do not have this capacity. “It is with these animals that we try to carry out environmental activities. This bird escaped because when it was making its routine flight, which it does every day, it possibly caught some thermal current that left it, in the end, disoriented. And he must have taken a different path.”

He warns that because it is a captive animal, “it is only used to eating from the handler’s hands. They don’t go with anyone else, they don’t know how to look for food, they don’t attack other animals on the lower food chain, which puts the animal’s life at risk if they don’t is found quickly.”

In this sense, if the eagle is sighted, the competent authorities must be alerted, namely the Institute for Conservation and Protection of Nature (IFCN), Public Security Police (PSP), Forestry Police or the Republican National Guard (GNR). You can also contact the company in question on 966661170.

Tiago Cardoso states that the animal should not be touched because despite being in captivity “it has not lost its wild instinct and uses its claws to try to defend itself”.
