Lifeguards and ribbons warn of the risk at Praia Formosa

The MarFunchal Front decided to mobilize two lifeguards to Praia Formosa today, due to the risk that the sea presents and also the presence of many bathers on this sunny and very hot Sunday.

Although it is not common, as we are outside the bathing season, this practice has been occasional, as a form of prevention. In addition, the company frentemar also decided to place some tapes on the access ramps to the pebble area. Even so, it should be noted that entry to the beach is not prohibited, but access is via the so-called ramps.

Yesterday afternoon, two young people were shocked when they defied the strong waves. Even though the sea was uninviting for swimming, the boys decided to swim and ended up being swept away, requiring the intervention of emergency services and some members of the public so that they could return to land safely.

Also on Saturday afternoon, the Funchal Port Authority issued a warning of strong winds and bad weather at sea for the entire Madeira archipelago, which is in effect until 6 am on Monday. This morning, when many are taking advantage of the good weather to travel to coastal areas, whether for walks along the seaside or even for some diving, the same identity once again asked the population for caution, appealing to them to be careful, especially when preparing of a trip to the sea.
