The meeting between the representative of the Republic for Madeira and the President of the Republic is scheduled for this Friday, at 12 noon.
The information has just been published in a brief note on the Presidency of the Republic website. It only says that “The President of the Republic will receive in audience the Representative of the Republic in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, Councilor Ireneu Cabral Barreto, next Friday, February 16th, at 12:00 pm, at the Palácio de Belém.”
The hearing in Lisbon takes place in the midst of a political crisis in Madeira, after the resignation of the President of the Government and the failure to approve the Regional Budget for this year.
Last week, Ireneu Barreto once again heard from all parties represented in the Madeiran Parliament. In the end, he made it known that he would have a meeting with Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, in Belém, before announcing his position on the regional political crisis.
