The Public Prosecutor’s Office today requested preventive detention for the three detained as part of the investigation into suspicions in Madeira, including the former mayor of Funchal, Pedro Calado.
The announcement was made by lawyer Raul Soares da Veiga, speaking to journalists outside the Central Criminal Investigation Court, at the Justice Campus, in Lisbon, where the Public Ministry’s allegations took place.
In addition to Pedro Calado, Avelino Farinha and Custódio Correia have also been detained since January 24th.
As part of this process, the president of the Government of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque (PSD), was named a defendant and ended up resigning from his position, which led to the fall of the regional executive, of the PSD/CDS-PP coalition, with parliamentary support from the PAN.
The suspense is killing me…. ????
