The leader of the ‘Madeira First’ coalition in these Legislative Elections challenged, today, the leader of the national PS to apologise to Madeirans for not having complied with the mobility allowance.
It was next to the Arrivals terminal at Madeira International Airport – Cristiano Ronaldo that Pedro Coelho left the challenge: “since he is visiting the Region today, this is a good opportunity for the PS general secretary and candidate for prime minister, Pedro Nuno Santos – who, until the end of 2022, was responsible for Transport – in addition to the promises he will make and which he certainly will not fulfill, apologise to the Madeirans”.
On the occasion, the social democratic candidate did not miss the opportunity to remember the various portfolios that remain pending in the Republic.
Pedro Coelho who, still with regard to air mobility, recalled, in this initiative, the airline between Madeira and Porto Santo, namely the inter-island concession contract, “which has been successively extended”, delaying a more lasting solution. “What we know is that we cannot book a plane ticket today for the 23rd or 24th of April, there are Portuguese people living in Porto Santo, we have tourism in Porto Santo and all of this is neglected”, he stressed. Nobody can book travel beyond 23rd April, and are stuck without being able to make plans.
The ‘Madeira Primeiro’ coalition says that air mobility is one of the priority issues to be resolved in the Assembly of the Republic. “It is not admissible”, maintained Pedro Coelho, remembering that Pedro Nuno Santos was responsible for Transport, “he only left at the end of 2022 and had this Law on his desk and quickly put it in a drawer”.
