Foreigner who fell in Fanal has been rescued

The foreign woman who suffered a fall this Monday on Vereda do Fanal has already been rescued by the Volunteer Firefighters of São Vicente and Porto Moniz. A “laborious” rescue, essentially due to the slippery floor conditions that forced the 6 firefighters from this corporation and the Forest Police to take extra care.

The victim, around 60 years old, fell approximately 1h30mins from the main road and had a suspected broken ankle. She was then transported by ambulance to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital.

Artur Fernandes, commander of the Voluntary Firefighters of São Vicente and Porto Moniz, once again highlights that the firefighters “are not equipped with sufficient human resources to respond to this type of situation that frequently occurs” and asks the competent authorities for an “urgent response ” in this regard.

“It is necessary to sit down at the table and reflect on this issue because with almost daily rescues we do not have enough human resources and the remaining population will be harmed in the aid”, he warned.
