A tourist who was injured this morning in Pico do Areeiro arrived at the Civil Protection helicopter port about an hour ago.
The man ended up being seriously injured, after being hit in the head with a stone, while traveling in the Pico do Gato area.
He was assisted by the BVM mountain search and rescue team and then rescued by helicopter, through the team of rescuers-recoverers.
Upon arrival of the helicopter, the injured person was assisted by the EMIR medical team, being transported to the hospital by the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters ambulance. In the month of March alone, this is the forth rescue of a tourist in the mountains of Madeira.
