Snowfall in today’s forecast for Madeira

Forecasts from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) for this Tuesday, March 26, point to the possibility of snowfall in the highest points of the island of Madeira, until early in the morning.

Furthermore, generally very cloudy skies and showers are expected, especially on the northern slopes and in the highlands.

The wind will blow moderately (20 to 35 km/h) from the North/Northwest, sometimes blowing strong (up to 45 km/h), especially in the highlands, with gusts of up to 80 km/h. In the eastern and western ends of the island of Madeira, gusts will reach up to 65 km/h until mid-afternoon, gradually decreasing in intensity.

Hail has already fallen at Pico Ruivo this morning, and a negative temperature was recorded at Pico do Areeiro.
