Two tourists lost in São Vicente were located without injuries

North Coast of Madeira is under yellow warning due to precipitation

The two tourists who got lost, this Friday, in the mountains of São Vicente, were located. Firefighters and Forest Police jointly engaged four elements in the search for the two foreign women, aged 26 and 27.

An operation that ended up being successful, even though it took place in very adverse weather conditions – the North Coast is under yellow warning due to precipitation. The rescue was therefore carried out under wind, and rain, but it was a third factor – the fog – that precipitated the disorientation of these two tourists, who were lost for approximately three hours.

In a ‘dead end’, the two women, of German nationality, who started their journey in Encumeada, asked for help via 112 and ended up being rescued without any injuries, at the site of Agriões, in Ginjas, a much sought after location, for example, for canyoning.

The German women were always in contact with the authorities, who located them using the GPS coordinates of their mobile devices.

The rescue operation lasted about an hour and no hospital treatment was necessary. Both returned to the Local Accommodation where they are staying, in Seixal.
