PSP found identification of the French couple in the area where two bodies were recovered in São Vicente

The Public Security Police (PSP) indicated, this Thursday, that all search actions for the French couple who had been missing in Madeira since March 16 had been completed.

“Following the search actions carried out on Caminho da Abelheira in São Vicente, where two bodies were found whose characteristics and clothing pointed to the couple in question, the Public Security Police carried out, on April 9, a search action in that local, having located various material belonging to the citizens in question”, can be read in a statement released this Thursday by the PSP Regional Command.

The same note adds that the PSP Search, Rescue, Relief and Mountain Rescue Brigade carried out technical searches on the escarpment, from the 320 meter level and up to the area where the bodies were found, last week, “where it was possible to find some clothing belonging to the couple in question, as well as a backpack with various personal objects, including personal identification documentation”.

“Thus, even though official confirmation of the identification of the bodies is awaited, the thesis of a probable fall on the route, in an area that was found to be dangerous and difficult to access, is accentuated, causing them to fall approximately 140 meters down a slope. very steep and with some vegetation”, says the PSP.

In conclusion, the PSP Regional Command of Madeira also thanks “the collaboration of all members that collaborated in the search actions, namely the Regional Civil Protection Service, the Madeira Operational Command, the Judiciary Police, the National Maritime Authority, the National Republican Guard, the Forest Police Corps, the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters and SANAS Madeira, as well as the collaboration of the media and the civil population, in indicating possible clues, evidence and testimonies, contributions that proved to be important in defining of the search perimeters, in the location and recovery of the bodies and their personal property”.
