Regional Government assumes that concern about the lack of product is “a good problem”
Madeira rum producers intend to acquire 12 thousand tons of sugar cane this year. The president of the Madeira Wine, Embroidery and Crafts Institute is “convinced” that production will reach this value and states that the concern about a possible lack of product is “a good problem”.
During the official visit of the Madeira Executive to the ‘Madeira Festival Rum’, which takes place at Placa Central, in the city of Funchal, Tiago Freitas highlighted the increase to 0.50 euros per kilo of support from the Regional Government of Madeira when purchasing the product, which “gives greater guarantees to producers”, remembering, on the other hand, that the investment must also come from the mills: “It can’t just be the government”.
The harvest ends on May 31st, so the person responsible considers that “it is still early” to anticipate production values, even so he is “convinced that everything will go well”, pointing to a value of 12 thousand tons.
