The Port Administration of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (APRAM) concluded the sargassum cleaning operation in the Port of Funchal.
In a note sent to the media, that public company states that, with the support of the Regional Fisheries Directorate, the cleaning of algae (sargassum) that invaded the water surface in the area of pier 1 of the Port of Funchal, as well as in the auction area.
“During the morning alone, 5 m3 were collected and placed in the São Martinho Fruit Growing Center, as per guidance from the Regional Government”, says the same source, noting that nine people, a vessel, a vehicle open box and a heavy load handling machine.
APRAM also announced that it has continued to clean sargassum on the island of Porto Santo., one of the worse affected areas where it is washed up on the beach daily.
