As previously reported, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) placed the Madeira archipelago under a yellow warning for hot weather between 9:00 today and 18:00 on Monday , indicating that the maximum temperature could reach 29 degrees.
The warning covers the south and north coasts and the mountainous regions of Madeira and the island of Porto Santo.
The yellow warning, the least serious on a scale of three, is issued by the IPMA whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the meteorological situation.
Despite the warning for hot weather, the IPMA predicts periods of very cloudy skies between today and Monday in the archipelago, with the possibility of light showers on the northern slopes and in the highlands of Madeira Island.
The forecast also indicates light to moderate winds during this period, blowing between 10 and 35 km/hour.
