Magnolia Classics recalls vehicles and traditions from the 50s

The regional secretary for Economy, Tourism and Culture, Eduardo Jesus, presented, this afternoon, at Quinta Magnólia, the 5th edition of ‘Clássicos na Magnólia’, a event of old vehicles that is part of the major events held in Funchal.

Entry is free and many visitors can interact with costumed extras who will be supporting the many classics on display. The event will take place on 27 and 28 July.

The classics sample in this edition goes back to the 1950s, a period that marked the appearance of simple mechanical vehicles, cars that served a large part of the middle class.

“This event is a special one, because around the vehicles on display here” there is “an atmosphere that is created” to remember those magnificent years, he began by saying.

The main attraction at the event is a Mercedes 300 D vehicle, a relic from the 1950s that belongs to the Portuguese State.

The event, which began in 2020, will take place on the last weekend of July, when the gardens of Quinta Magnólia will host the event with all the charm and unique atmosphere.

The presence of 43 cars, plus some motorbikes and bicycles from the most classic decades of automobiles is guaranteed. In addition to all this, the organization completes the glamour of the classics with a line-up that will feature plenty of entertainment and extras dressed in old-fashioned costumes.

The program will start at 10:00 am and will last until 8:00 pm.
