Pontinha marks ‘Port Day’ with initiatives

This Thursday, July 18th, marks another ‘Port Day’, an initiative that will leave Pontinha with its ‘doors open’ for anyone who wants to visit and get to know the facilities.

17 July 2024 – 12:44

The date commemorates the day when Madeira opened its port with conditions for the docking of ships and the supply of liquid fuel to navigation, on July 18, 1962, in the presence of the then President of the Republic, Américo Thomaz.

The celebrations begin at 10 am, so anyone wishing to see the facilities, services and equipment of the Port Authority of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (APRAM, SA), visit the international area of the Port of Funchal or stroll along the Pontinha pier, next to the sea, simply need to go to the entrance to the departure lounge of the Madeira Maritime Station, where the guided tours will begin.

In the afternoon, at 2 pm, APRAM will provide a pilot boat for connections between the city pier and Pontinha. The trips, available to all interested parties, will run until 3:40 pm.

The program ends with a get-together for all APRAM employees.
