The Casa do Povo de São Roque do Faial is once again organizing another action that aims to promote good environmental practices with the initiative of collecting rubbish on the pedestrian route between the regional road 103 and the Balcões viewpoint.
It takes place tomorrow, July 17th, starting at 2:30 pm.
“With this activity, we aim to raise awareness of the importance of the forest and the care they should take when taking these routes, particularly with regard to throwing rubbish down the surrounding slopes. Although the chosen route is not very polluted, it is always important to remind people of the need to put rubbish in the appropriate containers.
In addition to collecting rubbish, Casa do Povo aims to raise awareness of the importance of the forest, its richness and its contribution to our region. Along the way, participants will have the opportunity to get to know the fauna and flora of that place, with emphasis on indigenous plants. Since the route is part of the laurel forest, its importance for the entire ecosystem of that area cannot be overstated. In this sense, we are counting on the collaboration of the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation, which will make one of its members available to welcome us at 3:30 pm at the Ribeiro Frio Forestry Station”.
The activity is aimed at any citizen who is interested in participating.
