The Port of Funchal should now only have eight cruise ships for New Year’s Eve from 2023 to 2024, as information has now emerged that the ‘MV Renaissance’ will have canceled the call it had scheduled for that day.
The information was released yesterday by the blog ‘sergiocruises.blogspot.com’, but APRAM itself has not yet removed the ship from the list of scheduled calls (it remains identified as ‘Aegean Myth’, its previous name).
According to this page specialized in sea and port news, the passenger ship (capacity for more than 1,100 passengers and more than 500 crew) “of the new French company CFC – Compagnie Française de Croisières, canceled its call for the end of the year on the island of Madeira”, changing its plans for “Christmas-End of the Year cruises, with New Year’s Eve on the island of Madeira and exchange for the Balearic Islands, departing and arriving in Marseille in France”.
The ‘MV Renaissance’ “was scheduled to arrive at 3:00 pm, on December 31st, coming from the island of Gran Canaria and was heading on the 1st at 12:00 pm, heading to Palma de Mallorca in the Balearic Islands, on a 14-day trip , on this Christmas and New Year cruise”. The stopover would be made at an anchorage off the bay of Funchal.
Therefore, 8 ships are still planned for New Year’s Eve with the calls of ‘Queen Victoria’, ‘Borealis’, ‘Mein Schiff 3’, ‘Mein Schiff 1’, ‘Arcadia’, ‘Marella Explorer’, ‘Spirit of Adventure’, ‘AIDACosma’.
