Wind affects Madeira Airport operations

The wind in the Santa Cruz area is affecting landings and take-offs at Madeira International Airport with seven planes from different origins having diverted after 16:00.

According to the ANA- Aeroportos de Portugal website, this weather situation affected the Easyjet flight from Lisbon, the Tuifly flights from Frankfurt, Munich and Dusseldorf, the Easyjet Switzerland flight from Basel and the Ryanair flight from Lisbon.

Since 16:00, taking advantage of an “opening”, only one Easyjet Europe plane landed from Berlin at 17:04, with the corresponding aircraft departures being conditioned.

In the same information, the Easyjet flight originating in Lisbon and scheduled to arrive at 20:35 is reported as cancelled.

Four aircraft were ‘diverted’ to Porto Santo Airport.
