SC MIRANDELA REMAIN IN MADEIRA

Sport Clube de Mirandela, who faced Nacional in the Portuguese Cup last Saturday, remains stuck in Madeira, 48 hours after the match.

” We are still stuck at Madeira airport, we were supposed to travel on Saturday and the flight was changed to today (Monday) at 9pm. So far the only thing we have been told and without any justification from the airline is that we are no longer going to board the 9 pm flight and they don’t know if we will be leaving today.

As President of Sport Clube de Mirandela, I deeply regret that the rest of the players and technical team is being jeopardized and, consequently, the preparation for Saturday’s game. I also regret all the added expense that this incident is causing us”, can be read in a statement published this Monday by the club, signed by its president, Carlos Correia.

Mirandela lost 6-1 at Estádio da Madeira, in the 3rd round of the Portuguese Cup, still waiting to return to mainland Portugal.
