Yet another problem in this area, and they want to put a waste collection fee? what the hell are they thinking, and will be interesting to see what all this new money goes towards.
I would think its their due right to collect waste, and to organise it do piles are not seen like this again.
A video circulating on social media reveals a pile of rubbish at Pico do Areeiro, in what is considered one of the most visited tourist spots in Madeira.
The video, made at least four days ago by a citizen, shows several bags of rubbish piled up near the area designated for waste collection. However, it is the quantity that is surprising and has generated criticism from several users on social media.
It is worth noting that on 5 July, the Regional Secretary for the Environment and Agriculture, Rafaela Fernandes, announced that the Regional Government intends to implement a waste collection fee for access to pedestrian trails.
“We are concerned about waste collection and, therefore, fees will be applied to waste collection, because IFCN teams have to make weekly visits to keep the spaces clean. Therefore, as access is controlled, at the level of access itself, from the moment people want to access, they will make this payment”, said the minister at the time.
