A firefighter was injured following the fire that broke out three days ago in Serra de Água and reached the municipality of Câmara de Lobos, still with three active fronts.
According to the Regional Civil Protection Service, the firefighter suffered a minor injury to his lower limb, having received assistance and been transported to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital.
The fire continues to rage in Jardim da Serra, and is also heading towards Curral das Freiras.
“In Jardim da Serra, there are two active fronts, one to the south, advancing towards a residential area, but still at a safe distance from homes, and another to the north, progressing towards Vereda da Encumeada”, he explains. There is another in Ribeira Brava.
The SRPC “reiterates its gratitude to all the teams involved in fighting the fire and calls on the population to avoid unnecessary travel to the affected areas, for their own safety and to allow operators to act more effectively and safely”.
