The Judicial Police are investigating the origin of the fire that broke out yesterday morning in Serra de Água and which has already consumed a large area of scrubland, spreading to the Espigão and Trompica area.
At the site, there was talk of the possibility that a rocket had caused this fire, but the Regional Operational Commander, Marco Lobato, and the president of the Serra de Água Parish Council, Albertina Ferreira, did not confirm this possibility, guaranteeing that the midday spinning wheel was cancelled and that no rockets were launched.
It is now up to the Judicial Police inspectors to gather elements for the investigation and determine whether the fire was caused by negligence or intentional intent.
