The Forum Square in Machico will once again host the Christmas Market, which opens on December 5th, coinciding with the official inauguration of the Machico Christmas Village. From that day onwards, the Market will be open to the public every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
According to the Machico City Council, the market will be open from 6 pm to 11 pm on Thursdays and Fridays. On Saturdays and Sundays, the opening hours will be from 4 pm to 11 pm. A closed, transparent tent will be set up, “providing a welcoming environment, protected from the weather and visually integrated into the city’s Christmas landscape”.
The mini-market will be closed on December 25th and 26th, and January 1st.
Similar to the previous edition, the event will feature two food and drink stalls, managed by local associations, and two craft stalls, dedicated to selling products made by local artisans. The big news this year is the inclusion of two stalls dedicated to local wines, representing the producers ‘O Músico’ and ‘A Boneca de Canudo’, “reinforcing the commitment to promoting quality regional products”.
With regard to handicrafts, the 2025 edition will bring together 12 local artisans, who will exhibit and sell their creations, “guaranteeing a varied and authentic offering to the public”.
“The Machico Christmas Market 2025 promises, once again, to be a meeting place for families, visitors and the local community, celebrating the festive season with tradition, entertainment and regional products. The City Council invites everyone to experience the magic of Christmas in the heart of Machico,” concludes the municipality.
