A man threw himself off the bridge at Praça da Automonia this morning into the river below.
The police were soon on the scene to rescue the man from the sea who was in some distress being bashed against the tetra-pods.
He suffered injury to his upper limbs.
The questions are being asked, why were the police throwing him a ladder, and where were the sea rescue?
