Some Madeirans are receiving fraudulent messages in the name of banks such as Santander and Caixa Geral de Depósitos.
The message is always accompanied by a link to a website that asks to enter personal or account data, such as an identification card number and password to access home banking or to make a download. Now, as the sender is very similar to the bank’s original logo, people could be misled and left without money.
Therefore, customers should always be suspicious of messages that contain the following: a link or files to download that they were not expecting; an urgent request for help, usually in the form of money; congratulations on winning a contest you didn’t participate in; the name of a banking institution of which you are a customer or a brand you know and work with; an urgent request to verify personal information via an automated link or phone number; the links do not match the address of the institution or brand, nor do they have traditional security protocols, such as starting with ‘https’”.
