The Câmara of Funchal are considering installing a turntable for the Sun Dial on Avenida do Mar.
This will eliminate confusion among tourists as to what is the correct time on any sunny day.
The picture above was taken on 25th March and again on 26th March, but one hour
earlier. Yet, no changes are visible to the shadow.
The instalation of a turntable will allow the correct time to be read all year round, instead of just in the summer.
The turntable will be a fixed feature, and will only need to be locked in the correct place every 6 months, when the clocks change hours in March and October.
