A 26-year-old Nepalese man suffered a serious fall in the early hours of this Sunday, on Rua Ponta da Cruz, in Funchal.
The victim fell from a height of approximately 40 meters on a cliff near Centromar and was in a serious condition.
The alert was given to the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters at around 3:40 am, who went to the scene with 11 members, supported by an ambulance, a support vehicle and a mountain rescue vehicle.
The man had suspected fractures to his legs and arms, and also had an exposed fracture in one of his upper limbs. In addition, it was possible to ascertain, he had suspected head trauma.
He was assisted by firefighters and transported by ambulance to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital accompanied by the Rapid Intervention Medical Team (EMIR) who were also called to provide assistance.
Several members of the Public Security Police and the Maritime Police were also at the scene.
The rescue operation lasted over 4 hours.
