Madeira logo removed from Praça do Povo for maintenance

The Madeira logo will return to its usual place in Praça do Povo in September, but for now, the piece will be removed for maintenance purposes, which will happen tomorrow.

“The 10-meter-long and 2.57-meter-high structure was placed by the Madeira Promotion Association in that space in downtown Funchal in December 2021, around 8 months after the unveiling of the Destination’s new brand and communication strategy”, recalls the communications office of the Tourism Secretariat.

It further informs that “the maintenance work now contracted will begin after the disassembly and transport to the construction site of each piece and should take around 60 days, with the logo expected to return to Praça do Povo by mid-September”.

“The procedure includes dismantling the logo in Praça do Povo, analyzing and checking for any non-visible damage (interior and structure), repairing all damage and replacing the casters. It also includes lacquering the parts, finishing and reassembling the structure in its original location,” it added.
