A juvenile sea lion rests in the Santa Cruz marina.

A seal, about a year old, is attracting attention at the Santa Cruz marina.

The animal, about a year old, fell asleep next to the boats.

A team from the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation went to the site to monitor the monk seal, asking people to move away or make less noise so as not to scare it away.

According to the two nature wardens, the objective was to monitor and identify the monk seal for the tracking and control of this protected species.
