  1. Hi Tobi – is the airport now closed – it seems all UK flights cancelled – not even coming empty, so how can we find out if there are any rescue flights ? Thanks

    1. There are more flights departing than arriving. On arrivals board no jet2 flights listed but they are on the departure board!

      1. Good day to you Nicky i am concerned. My fiance was due to leave Medeira with TAP, to return to South Africa. They informed usbtgat we would be put on standby and informed in due course of any available flight back. What is Portugal’s positions on repatriation of foreign nationals to their home countries?

    3. The easyJet flight I was going to be on is on its way EZY1971 from Manchester.

  3. Are Azores flights (Sata) flying into Madeira from Toronto via ponta Delgada? Am booked to arrive Madeira April 1 but have heard zippo from airline. Have tried to reach by email and phone.

    The travel agency where I booked flight is closed due to corona. Have also emailed them but again no response but guess it is a crazy time for them (and I still have a few days). I want to rebook for late June.

    Nice to hear you not only are helping out many of us in other countries but also offering to get groceries etc. for people who are quarantined.

    I am an RN / Lactation Consultant (mostly retired) but am going to put up a few messages around our community volunteering to help (per phone) breastfeeding mothers who are worried they don’t have enough milk as they watch baby formula being swept off shelves. Is that a problem in Madeira?

  6. EasyJet Bristol is on its way so hopefully they will be able to bring a full plane of visitors back to the UK. I was coming on Wednesday and I notice this morning that this flight is unavailable but as yet I have had no contact from them.

  7. Our jet 2 flight for the 29th was cancelled on Saturday.
    We will miss our annual Madeira trip but will be back as soon as it is safe to travel.

  8. I was just off the phone with Azores Airlines, and they were now able to rebook our March 21 for April 1st, from Funchal-Ponta Delgada-Toronto. The Azores airline is still operating from PDL-Toronto on the 21st and 28th, however, to get there, we have to book a separate ticket from Funchal via Porto or Lisbon, and probably end up in mandatory quarantine for 14 days in the process.

    1. I would not mid being quarantined on Madeira or the Azores. Toronto not so much! 🙂

  9. Does anybody know whether easyjet are bringing people home to UK? My parents due back Saturday but flight cancelled and can’t find anything out.
