São João on the North Coast

Thanks to Jerry for sending me this.

Last night we jumped the bonfire on Faja Da Areia in celebration of Soa Joao…. despite the sadness and frustration caused by the COVID-19 lockdown and the financial losses sustained by many of our neighbors who rely on tourism for their livelihood, we pulled together and celebrated with the same fervor and enthusiasm as years before….grilled sardines, a gift from the sea, plus liters of homemade wine from our very own local vineyards were present in abundance, a sign that the virus was just a bump in the road and we as a neighborhood have survived stronger than ever!
