Tests paid by the Region to “make life easier for travelers,” says Albuquerque

The President of the Regional Government today justified measures to support mobility in air transport as a fundamental factor to ensure the resumption of tourism, namely of national origin.

On the sidelines of the inauguration of the requalification work on the Caminho do Ribeiro Real, in Câmara de Lobos, Miguel Albuquerque recalled that currently “there are 43,000 people in layoffs” the majority of workers “linked to a sector that represents 26% of our GDP, which is the Tourism and related activities ”.

Reason to justify the new measure announced yesterday in the Region to assume the costs of tests to Covid-19 carried out on the Continent by travelers to Madeira.

“We are going to celebrate this protocol, which is another positive aspect for the mobility that we need so much, especially the visitors in the coming months in RAM,” he said.

Albuquerque clarified that from 1 July it is to maintain the test mode (at the origin) until 72 hours from disembarkation or the test on arrival with a result up to 12 hours. In both cases, the Region is willing to assume the costs – in the national circles – “To make life easier for those who want to travel to Madeira”, he reinforced.

He also admitted that the measure to impose a specific health establishment to carry out reimbursed tests on the Continent may result in constraints for travelers living in more remote areas.
