15 NEW CASES, 11 OF LOCAL TRANSMISSION

Today Madeira has 15 new cases of covid-19, 11 of which are locally transmitted.

According to the bulletin of the Regional Health Directorate, there are 4 imported cases (2 from Germany, 1 from Sweden and 1 from the Lisbon Region and Tagus valley) and 11 cases of local transmission, all associated with contacts from positive cases previously identified.

Five cases of local transmission concern children and young people (aged 11 to 19 years) who attend educational establishments in the municipalities of Câmara de Lobos and Funchal, including a higher education institution. The contingency plan of the respective establishments is active, says the same source.

According to the health authority, there are also eight more cases recovered.

It adds to the epidemiological bulletin that 196 are active cases, of which 48 are imported cases identified in the context of surveillance activities implemented at Madeira Airport and 148 are cases of local transmission. Regarding the residence of active cases, 31 are non-residents and 165 are residents of RAM.

Regarding the isolation of active cases, DRS says that 34 people are isolated in a dedicated hotel unit, 160 in their own accommodation and 2 people remain hospitalized – 1 in the Multipurpose Unit dedicated to covid-19 and 1 patient in the Intensive Care Unit dedicated to this disease.
