MADEIRA WITH 18 MORE CASES OF COVID-19

Today there are 18 new positive cases. These are five imported cases (four from the United Kingdom and one from Poland) and 13 cases of local transmission, associated with contacts or contexts of previously identified positive cases.

Regarding the cases confirmed today, there are five cases in the health area, with four hospitalized patients and a health professional identified within the scope of the intrahospital screening performed at SESARAM, EPERAM.

Some good news, there are 32 recovered cases.

  1. Don’t suppose we know to what date the 4 from the UK arrived? Madeirasafe have sent email reminders every day to check-in and report how we feel. I am guessing somebody sitting near us has tested positive.

    1. The system sends automatic emails to everyone that is registered in MadeiraSafe for at least 14 days. If you were sitting near someone who tested positive you would be informed by authorities that you were under passive surveillance and they would require for you to fill the daily form.

  2. My daughter arrived to visit for Christmas yesterday but still hasn’t received her test results when others have. Is there a number we can ring to find out what’s happened? I think you may have printed one before but I can’t seem to find it.

      1. Bad news I’m afraid. She tested positive which was devastating for us as we had paid for a private test the day before she flew as she teaches in a school. That test was negative. She would never have got on the plane otherwise. We were also told that they inform all the negatives first then the positives get informed up to 48 hours later. This is due to them double checking the information. She is isolating in her bedroom now for 14 days.

  3. We were meant to come on December 14th. However we cancelled our trip. Madeira Safe has sent emails every day to us to ask how we are. I have tried to tell them we are still in UK ! Still We are impressed that they are making an effort to track people.

  4. Sadly our trip for Christmas was cancelled due to no flights. The way things are in the U.K. we don’t want to mix with others as the figure is far too high on deaths. Good old Boris won’t step down with this mixing of groups even though he has been warned over and over again, so back to a third lockdown after the holidays.
