Madeira currently has 76 new positive cases to report. A new record of daily cases to start the new year.
These are 18 imported cases (10 from the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Region, 3 from the United Kingdom, 3 from Venezuela, 1 from France, 1 from Russia) and 58 cases of local transmission, most of which are already associated with contacts or positive case contexts.
According to the Regional Health Directorate, 697 cases are active, of which 177 are imported cases and 520 are cases of local transmission.

There are 40 people are in hospital, with 4 of those in Intensive care.
