Santa Cruz joins the high-risk municipalities for the transmission of Covid-19

Santa Cruz became the most recent municipality in the Region to enter the ‘high risk’ level for the transmission of Covid-19. With 128 new cases registered in the last 14 days (26 yesterday) and a population of 45,281 people, the municipality registers 283 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection per 100 thousand inhabitants.

Yesterday’s figures also reveal that Porto santo, with 846 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants, is approaching the ‘extreme risk’ level, having been at ‘very high risk’ for three days.

Right now, in high and very high risk counties, there are six of the 11 counties in the Region, which make up 80% of the population.

Santa Cruz joins, according to the criteria of DGS – Directorate General of Health – of the European Center for the Prevention and Control of Diseases, the municipalities of Ribeira Brava; Funchal, Câmara de Lobos and Porto Moniz at the high level.
