30 new cases and 40 recoveries in Madeira

There are 30 new cases of infection in Madeira. This is a case imported from France and 29 cases of local transmission, most of which are already associated with positive case contacts.

Also according to the Regional Directorate of Health (DRS), this Saturday there are 40 recovered cases to report, so the Region now counts 698 active cases, of which 17 are imported cases and 681 are of local transmission.

Counting to date a total of 67 deaths associated with the disease, it should be noted that 38 people are hospitalized at the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital (29 people in Multipurpose Units and 9 in the Intensive Care Unit), while 12 people are isolated in one dedicated hotel unit, the rest remaining in their own accommodation.

In total, there are 183 situations that are currently being considered by the health authorities, these being related to travelers identified at the airport, contacts with positive cases or other situations reported to the SRS24 line or to SESARAM. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing.

In the context of the operation of screening travelers at the ports and airports of the Region, there is still a cumulative total of 167,573 people  tested, and in total, to date, the samples processed in the Clinical Pathology laboratory of SESARAM amount to 323,110.
