Madeira registers 33 cases this Sunday, the lowest value in 76 days

This Sunday, Madeira added 33 more cases of infection with the new coronavirus. It is the lowest value of the last 76 days. Since December 21st, there has not been such a low number of cases.

The Regional Directorate of Health reported that on March 7, 2021, 33 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection were reported in the Region, so it now accounts for 7,570 confirmed cases of Covid-19. There are 33 cases of local transmission, most of which are already associated with positive case contacts. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing.

There are now 48 more recovered cases to report. The Region now accounts for 6,725 cases recovered from Covid-19. Today, with 1 death to be reported among the confirmed cases in the RAM, the region accounts, to date, a total of 66 deaths associated with Covid-19.

We now have 779 active cases, of which 17 are imported cases and 762 are locally transmitted. Regarding the isolation of active cases, it should be noted that 46 people are hospitalized at Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça (39 people in Multipurpose Units and 7 in the Intensive Care Unit dedicated to COVID-19) and 13 people are isolated in a dedicated hotel unit, the rest remaining in their own accommodation.

In total, there are 261 situations that are currently being considered by the health authorities, these being related to travelers identified at the airport, contacts with positive cases or other situations reported to the SRS24 line or to SESARAM. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing.
