The approach, to the northeast coast of Madeira Island, of a cell that may cause intense precipitation, motivated in the last hour the reinforcement of the alert of the Regional Civil Protection Service (SRPC) with the municipal civil protection structures. There is increased attention in locations such as Faial and Porto da Cruz for the possible worsening of the weather in the coming hours.
In Faial there is the Mayor of Santana, Dinarte Fernandes, who a few moments ago confirmed to DIÁRIO that he had received a communication from the SRPC, at the last minute, to warn of the approach of a new front of great instability.
The heavy rainfall recorded this morning in the municipality of Santana is an indication that increases the risk of more breakdowns occurring due to the saturation of the land with water.
For now there is no evacuated population, there are three machines on the ground in unblocking / cleaning operations, in the area – Corujeira and Lombo Galego.
