ASTRAZENECA WILL ONLY BE ADMINISTERED IN MADEIRA TO PEOPLE OVER 60 YEARS OLD

The Regional Health Directorate informs that vaccination against Covid-19 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira will implement the recommendations issued, today, by the Directorate-General for Health, Vaccination Task Force and National Medicines Authority (INFARMED) . This means that the AstraZeneca vaccine will only be administered in the Autonomous Region of Madeira to people over 60 years of age. Whoever is below this age group will be inoculated with a drug from another manufacturer.

This change, according to a note issued by DRS; it will have no impact on the Covid-19 vaccination program scheduled for the next few days.

It is important to emphasize that the AstraZeneca vaccine is safe and effective. Vaccination is the most important weapon for protection against the disease.

For tomorrow, the vaccination campaign will continue in the Vaccination Centers in the municipalities of Câmara de Lobos, Ponta do Sol and Funchal, as scheduled.

The Regional Health Directorate remains in contact with the other national and international Health Entities and adds that it has a free helpline for the population dedicated to vaccination Covid-19, SRS VACINA COVID-19, Tel 800 210 263.

  2. Is it only good enough for older people then? People sould think twice before having Astrazeneca vaccine.

  3. Look, this is ridiculous. As a teacher, i received my vaccine today and at present feel absolutely fine. We can’t go on with this on/ off approach to Astra Zenica. Either it’s safe, or it isn’t. What am I supposed to think now as I go to bed? Put yourselves in my position.

    Are they kidding who? I am never going to have this AstraZeneca injected into my body never. They are trying to get rid of the old age pensioners to save cash.I am safer without it. Definitely NO thank you.

    1. I don’t know how old you are JM but if you are over 30 the statistics show you are far more likely to die of Covid than suffer a blood clot as a consequence of taking the AZ vaccine. I really doubt the authorities are actively trying to bump off old age pensioners and if they were this would be a very ineffective method. Some perspective and clear headed thinking required I think.

  7. Well Simon I think I have reason for concern I am over 60 in fact over 65 in good shape and plan to live another 49 years so there you go. Have a lovely day and Stay Safe.
