Madeira with 14 cases this Sunday, the lowest number in four months

This Easter Sunday, the Autonomous Region of Madeira registered 14 new cases of infection with the virus Covid-19, three of which were imported (two from Lithuania and one from Spain).

This is the lowest daily case number since 8th December when the Region registered 13 cases.

There is also the recovery of 17 patients, so we now have a total number of 360 active cases.

      1. I think it will be May before we can get anything concrete. But its not just down to Traffic Lights,If have to pay for myself and my wife to have three tests prior to coming back from my fortnight in a green listed country, at a cost of £700, then I won’t be going. I think this will be general thinking so there will be little advantage to the Madeira Hospitality Industry.

  2. Be proud everybody! Incidence is 55,6 (imported and local transmission) 51,6 (local transmission) and 4 (imported).
    If this continues, Madeira will be taken of the risk list in Germany.

    1. Having low infection rates is good because it means less people will die and health services will be very far from being overwhelmed in a near future. And thats it. Saying this is good because this meets some random criteria defined by other countries makes no sense. I think Germany should really try to focus in solving the mess that it put itself in other than puting “stamps” in other regions and countries based on random thresholds.

  3. I am German and I agree 100% with you, Antonio.
    The way the Germans handled Covid so far is a mess, and has nothing to do with the well organized country Germany once was. I tell everybody we have to learn from the Portuguese…

  4. Todays statistics (SESARAM) indicate that 99,85% of the population of Madeira are free of Covid.
    I call this very good news !

  6. It is so encouraging to hear that cases are continuing to fall on a regular basis. Throughout this pandemic Madeira have dealt with this extremely well. I hope people don’t start to let their guard down now.

  7. There are still lots of vulnerable groups still need the vaccine with priority.

    It is so difficult to know where to start and stop when vaccinating those involved in dealing with the public. Tourism is perhaps not the right wording.

    Those who deal with the public are a huge number of personal, and statistics show the over 50s are the group at risk of death from covid.
    There is no easy answer, other than priorities the vaccine rollout more quickly.

  8. Flights booked for September, rebooted from last year so keeping fingers crossed for travel. Haven’t left the house for more than a yeat! Madeira seem to be doing a good job so far. Perhaps they could teach Johnson a thing of two!
