Here are the latest incidence rates from Harald.

Herewith the latest numbers. I should mention that for all weeks on the sheet the population of 250K as per census 2021 has been used. Also I have added a field “week-on-week change” with the %age of change.

    What’s your option?
    Question can a double vaccinated person have covid, yes.
    Do they have a pcr test pre departure, NO
    Do they get tested with double vaccine jabs on arrival to Madeira, No.
    Do they have a pcr test on pre departure from Madeira, yes.
    So it’s possible there are many people walking around with a mild covid, positive!!! and then test positive when tested pre departure 48hrs prior.
    Also those who arrive with single vaccine could be positive, but tested on entry.

    With covid having a incubation period
    would it not be sensible to have a pcr test 48hrs prior departure and on arrival and departure again from Madeira.
    Yes this is a extra cost but it’s the economy of Madeira and the people we need to protect.
    My friend recently went to a big agricultural show, doub3le vaccinated prior to going and no covid, 4 day event. On return home took a pcr test, all family had covid, but only mild signs like flue, headache, aching.
    All OK now after self isolation.
    Double vaccinated people can be a carrier of covid, they are not immune to covid or spreading it by not complying with masks in all public areas, inside and out.

    1. It´s been now 4 months since Madeira opened its borders to vaccinated and recovered tourists without test.

      Since then, 4 people died of Covid in Madeira. That is 1 person per month. These 4 people were on average more than 85 years old. In these 4 months, the number of simultaneous ICU hospitalizations never exceeded the number of 3, which represents less than 10% of the capacity.

      So, in direct answer to your concerns: the corridor is working just fine but there seems some people struggle to admit it.
